Quail Project

On 6/27 I might have had a screw loose because I went and bought 40, two-week old Coturnix quail. What can I say, they were a steal. My plan is to raise them up to 8-10 weeks of age (planned processing days either 8/11 or 8/25). Once they’re done with the brooding stage, I’ll move them to a wire pen outside, 20 birds in each half. Right now I’m hoping that they’ll provide 1lb of dressed weight per 4 birds, or about 4oz per bird. They don’t produce a TON of meat, but what they do produce is a delicacy. I will post some updates as time passes by and they grow, for now they’re still under a lamp in the garage.
